Sunrise is currently licensed, under the Hague Convention in Brazil, to offer an adoption program with that country. It is a small program which takes time to complete. Patience is required of those wishing to adopt from Brazil.

The Children of Brazil

• live in orphanages
• are 3 years to eight years of age
• have been apprehended by the government from their birth families

The Parents

• Must be couples
• May be married or unmarried
• Of any age
• Of any religious background or belief

Approximate Waiting Period

The length of time to a proposal will depend on the age of the child you request.

Travel

Adoptive parents must travel to Brazil. The parents are required to stay in Brazil for approximately 31 days. During this time, the parents and child are observed by the Brazilian authorities through a series of interviews.
