The Children of Colombia
- Live primarily in orphanages
- May be boys or girls
- Are up to 12 years of age
- May be part of a sibling group
Adoptive Parents
- Couples must have been married a minimum of three years.
- Must be between 25 and 37 years of age to adopt a child under 12 months of age. Older parents will be considered for older children.
- Single applicants are permitted only if they are Colombian.
Approximate Waiting Period
Once the adoptive parents' documents are in Colombia, parents can anticipate waiting approximately 24 months for a proposal.
Travel Requirements
Both adoptive parents must travel to Colombia. Adoptive parents can anticipate spending 3 - 6 weeks in Colombia. Once adoptive parents arrive in Colombia a court date will be set and once the hearing has taken place, one parent may return home.
