The Children

• Live in orphanages
• Become eligible for adoption after 1 year of age
• Are at least 18 months of age at time of proposal but may be older

The Parents

• Must be married couples or single women
• May be of any age but older parents will be proposed older children
• Are required to maintain their child's connection to Bulgaria

Approximate Waiting Period

Once a dossier goes to Bulgaria, parents should anticipate waiting up to 2 years before receiving a proposal. We expect the waiting period to decrease over time.

Travel

Adoptive Parents must make 2 one-week trips to Bulgaria with approximately two months in between.
