Adopting A Step-Child

Often parents who are in a second relationship would like to have their new spouse or partner adopt their child from a previous marriage or relationship. These can be simple or sometimes complex from a legal point of view. Step-parent adoption requires an application to the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Sunrise can refer you to experienced adoption lawyers who can assist you to complete the adoption.

If the child is between 7 and 12 years of age a report for the court is required. Sunrise will prepare this report for you.
